How your content is ranked

Since the search results on Yahoo Search are generated by an algorithm run by Microsoft Bing, you should familiarize yourself with the Bing Webmaster Guidelines on how Bing ranks your content.

Ranking parameters for website content

For a high level overview of the main parameters Microsoft Bing uses to rank content, please see the "How Bing ranks your content" section of the Bing Webmaster Guidelines.

Improving rankings by payments

Please take note that there is no ability for sites to improve their algorithmic ranking by providing remuneration to Yahoo or Microsoft/Bing. Websites can choose to advertise on Yahoo Search through Microsoft Advertising. For more information about website rankings, please refer to the Bing Webmaster Guidelines. Yahoo Search may also include standalone content modules on the same page as the algorithmic results, with information related to the search term provided, such as news articles, local business listings, or video results. These content modules are not subject to placement on the basis of payments to Yahoo.

Delistings contact

If you find that your website has been delisted, or the ranking order of your site appears to have changed, you can contact Microsoft Bing to find out the reason for a delisting or change in ranking order.

Differentiated treatment

All algorithmic search results for Yahoo Search are provided by Microsoft Bing, which does not prioritize its own or Yahoo content within algorithmic search results. Outside of algorithmic search results, Yahoo Search may include standalone content modules promoting Yahoo content, products or services related to the search term provided, such as a team's recent scores from Yahoo Sports, or articles about a company from Yahoo Finance.
